During February 22nd – 25th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Nuttawut Rodanant, M.D., Chief of the Division of Retina, Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Subretinal and Suprachoidal Air” at “The 39th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) 2024 Congress”, held in conjunction with the 49th PERDAMI (the Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (IOA) Annual Meeting) at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Republic of Indonesia.

Themed “Beyond All Limits”, the APAO 2024 Congress will bring together ophthalmologists from around the world, and it is expected to feature about 800 internationally recognized speakers presenting their latest work and scientific innovations in the major ophthalmic subspecialties. An attendance figure of around 5,000 delegates.

On Monday, February 19, 2024, the Center of Research Excellence and the Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Metabolomic and Systems Biology (SiCORE-MSB) had the distinct honor of engaging in a fruitful discussion with Emeritus Professor Jeremy Nicholson, Pro Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences and Executive Director of the Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC) at Murdoch University, who serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in SiCORE-MSB. Joining him were his esteemed colleagues: Professor Julien Wist, Deputy Director of the ANPC, and Professor Elaine Holmes, Head of Computational and Systems Medicine at the ANPC.

Representing the Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Assist. Prof. Dr. Woraphat Ratta-apha, Head of the Center of Research Excellence, and Prof. Oranee Sanmaneechai, Assoc. Prof. Prawej Mahawithitwong and Assist. Prof. Tachjaree Panchalee Boonbowornpong, Deputy Head of the Center of Research Excellence, actively participated and provided introductions during the meeting.

The teleconference delved into comprehensive discussions regarding the group’s research direction, accompanied by presentations of research outcomes by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakda Khoomrung, the Director of SiCORE-MSB. The Center of Research Excellence extends our profound appreciation to Emeritus Professor Jeremy Nicholson and two representatives from ANPC for their outstanding support and active involvement. From February 18th – 21st, 2024, administrative members of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “2023 CAMPUS Asia International Symposium & Faculty Meeting – Advancing Global Medical and Public Health Leadership: Facilitating International Collaboration” hosted by Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The representatives of Siriraj in this prestigious gathering were Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation; Prof. Aasis Unnanuntana, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs; and Asst. Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations.

The CAMPUS Asia (Collective Action for Mobility Program of University Students in Asia) is a cross-border student mobility program initiated by the agreement of the Summit Meeting of Korea, Japan, and China in 2010. It aims to strengthen networks among academic institutions of higher education in Asia and promotes student exchanges through joint and double degree programs as well as exchange programs. The consortium universities of CAMPUS Asia include Peking University, Yonsei University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

On February 21st, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, the Deputy Dean for Corporate Communications and International Relations along with Siriraj members and Prof. Kaibo Wang, Vice Dean, Vanke School of Public Health, Tsinghua University, China presided over the MOU signing ceremony between the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Vanke School of Public Health, Tsinghua University to foster academic and research collaboration.
