The 3rd Teleconference Research and Innovation Advisory Committee in 2021, is virtually held as two-day meeting for different time zones includes November 12, 2021 for the committee members from the US, Australia and South Korea and November 19,2021 for the members in Europe, Israel and Bangkok. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Banchong Mahaisavariya M.D., President of Mahidol University and Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with executive members and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M) welcomed the distinguished Research and Innovation Advisory Committee members.

On November 19, 2021, the advisory board received the brief updates from Deputy Dean for Research, SiCORE-M and the representatives of each SiCOREs. During the meeting, the board discussed and provided recommendations on the strategic research management and supporting mechanisms at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. In the interactive session, there was discussion about the research progress from Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Allergy and Immunology (SiCORE-Allergy), Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Dengue and Emerging Pathogens (SiCORE-Dengue), Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Precision Medicine and Systems Pharmacology (SiCORE-PM&SP) and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Cardiovascular Disease (SiCORE-Cardiovascular Disease).

This two-day meeting provided us with an invaluable opportunity that all those that participated in this meeting found it extremely beneficial and greatly welcomed the opportunity to exchange perspectives and from the experience of advisory committee members. Without doubt, the insightful comments and recommendations that we received from this meeting will be of great benefit in research transformation to our Faculty and eventually magnify a broader outcome in aspects of Thailand healthcare system in the future.

On November 12, 2021, Prof. Dr. Banchong Mahaisavariya M.D., President of Mahidol University and Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with executive members welcomed the distinguish Research and Innovation Advisory Committee members to the 3rd Siriraj Research and Innovation Advisory Committee Meeting in 2021, organized by Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M). This year, the meeting will be virtually held on November 12, 2021 and November 19, 2021

During the meeting, the advisory board received a brief update on the research progress and the strategic research and innovation management at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University since the last meeting in 2019. There was then further discussion about the current limitation in research ecosystem and funding management. In addition, the board provided advices on potential supporting mechanisms and opportunities with industrial partners. As always, this was our great honor and pleasure to learn from the advisory committee members. We have certainly gained numerous insights and new ideas that will assist us immensely in research transformation at our Faculty, which eventually may lead to significant impact at the national level.

On January 4th, 2021, Assoc. Prof. Oranee Sanmaneechai, Deputy Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M), and SiCORE-M team along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsakorn Tantilipikorn, Director of SiCORE Allergy enthusiastically provide the scientific progress of SiCORE-Allergy through the 4th teleconference to SAB members, Prof. Rudolf Valenta from Medical University of Vienna, Prof. Giorgio Walter Canonica from Humanitas University and Prof. Stephen R. Durham from Imperial College London.

In this regard, the valuable recommendations from SAB is undoubtedly prove highly beneficial to our SiCORE-Allergy. With the given guidance, the research team will adjust the proposal and shall work on the provocation test accordingly. Simultaneously, they propose to submit the Provocation test proposal to Siriraj Institutional Review Board (SiRB) within the mid of January. At last, SiCORE–M would like to extend our sincere gratitude to SAB members for their continued support.

During December 5th–6th, 2020, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital preside over the annual seminar along with Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul,
Prof. Dr. Vicharn Panich, Dr. Somsak Chunharas and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE–M). Our SiCORE-M Annual Seminar this year take place at The Buffalo Amphawa, Sumutsongkram province, showcases the recent progress and achievements. In addition, the prospective strategic planning, future operational structure and plan for SiCORE-M unit have been discussed.

On November 11th, 2020, Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M), and SiCORE-M team along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panisadee Avirutnan, Director of SiCORE-Dengue enthusiastically scheduled the 2nd teleconference on November 11th, 2020 with their SAB members, Sir Andrew J. McMichael, FRS, FMedSci, Professor of Molecular Medicine, Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford and Xiao-Ning Xu, MD, PhD Professor of Medicine Imperial College London.

In this regard, the valuable insights and thoughtful recommendations on scientific contents from SAB will undoubtedly prove highly beneficial to our SiCORE-Dengue. On November 10th, 2020, Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy dean for research leads the team including Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M) team led by Assoc. Prof.Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panisadee Avirutnan, Director of SiCORE-Dengue held the 1st teleconference with the field expert in Public Engagement, namely Dr. Stephen S. Whitehead, B.S., M.S., Ph.D., Senior Associate Scientist, Laboratory of Infectious, Disease NIAID, National Institute of Health (NIH), and Prof. Anna P. Durbin, M.D, Professor, International Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University.

We do hope that this meeting will be a good starting point and an ideal opportunity for our research team to learn from experiences and exchange ideas with the field expert towards public engagement activities. It will definitely enable our team to comprehensively adapt the given guidance during the meeting to our Dengue CHIM project.

Prof. Dr. Woraphat Rattaapha, Deputy Manager and SiCOREM team along with Lecturer Dr. Somponnat Sampattavanich, Director of SiCOREPM&SP held the 2nd teleconference with their SAB members, Prof. Christopher L. Corless M.D., Ph.D. from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Prof. Andrew Futreal, Ph.D. from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

This meeting aim for the SiCOREPM&SP to present the progress of their ongoing projects as well as the interactive discussion with SAB members.

On November 4th, 2020, Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M) team led by Assoc. Prof.Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager and team, Mrs.Sarinya Ngamtipvatana Head officer of Research Department, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj hospital, visited Institute for Technology and Innovation Management, Mahidol University.

In this regard, all the attendees received a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Pattarachai Kiratisin, Director of Institute for Technology and Innovation Management.

On this occasion, it was an honor and a pleasure to learn about innovation and technology management from iNT.

On November 3rd, 2020, Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M) team led by Assoc. Prof.Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager, Lecturer Dr. Primana Punnakitikashem and SiCORE-M team, along with Prof. Rungroj Krittayaphong, Director of SiCORE-Cardiovascular Disease held the 1st teleconference with their SAB members, namely Prof. Gemma Figtree from The University of Sydney and Associate Professor Jin Joo Park from Seoul National University.

On this occasion, we do hope these first teleconference would be a good starting point of the introduction for getting to know each other including create opportunities for collaboration in the future. All insight and recommendations from the SAB members will certainly guide the research directions and scientific contents to become internationally excellence in research and also to be comprehensively adapt as a guideline for clinical practice.

 

On October 19th, 2020, Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M) team led by Assoc. Prof.Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager and team, Mrs.Sarinya Ngamtipvatana Head of from Research Department along with 2 representatives from the Human Resources Department visited the Research Administration Division and Human Resource Division, Mahidol University.
On this occasion, all the attendees were honored by Prof. Dr.Vachira Kochakarn, Vice President for Research and Academic Affairs to welcome and provide information during the meeting about the supporting guideline for research personnel from the Mahidol university. As always, it was an honor and a pleasure to learn from Research Administration Division and Human Resource Division. Lastly, we would like to express our profound gratitude to them for having offered us this great opportunity for discussion as well as the warm welcome and useful advice given to us.
