U.S. News & World Report Rankings 2022

The U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings 2022 were produced to provide insight into how universities compare globally. Since an increasing number of students plan to enroll in universities outside of their own country, the Best Global Universities rankings – which focus specifically on schools’ academic research and reputation overall and not on their separate undergraduate or graduate programs – can help those applicants accurately compare institutions around the world.

The overall Best Global Universities rankings encompass nearly 1,750 top institutions spread across 86 countries, up from 81 countries last year. This year, Mahidol University is ranked #520 in Best Global Universities. Schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.

English Interview for Student Exchange Program 2022

October 28th, 2021, the committee of Siriraj Medical Students Exchange Program 2022 (the academic year 2021) led by Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for International Relations, and the Assistant Deans for International Relations: Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee and Asst. Prof. Warut Pongsapich, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chantacha Sitticharoon, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vorapan Sirivatanauksorn from the Department of Biochemistry, have conducted the English Interview to select the most eligible of Siriraj 6th-year medical students to undertake the clinical elective in the year 2022.

Short Training Program at Siriraj Orthopaedic Surgery

Welcome, Dr. Heinrich Franner, an orthopaedic surgeon from Trauma Center Meidling, Vienna, Austria, to undertake “Siriraj’s international short training program in diagnostics and treatment of foot and ankle Injury” at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Bavornrit Chuckpaiwong starts from October 25th, 2021 to January 14th, 2022.

2021 CHINA-ASEAN Conference

During October 21st – 22nd, 2021, the founding members of the China-ASEAN University Consortium on Medicine and Health: ASEAN-China Centre, Peking University Health Science Center, and Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, co-hosted the international conference “2021 China-ASEAN Conference on Partnership in Medicine and Health”. The panel includes the annual meeting of the alliance, the council, and three sub-forums: “Prevention and Control Technology and Policy of Emerging Infectious Diseases”, “Critical Care Technology of Emerging Infectious Diseases”, and “Epidemic Information Analysis and Prevention and Control Strategy”. On this two-day event, Prof. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with his administrative team members: Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for Administration, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for International Relations, and two Assistant Dean for International Relations: Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, and Asst. Prof. Warut Pongsapich attended the conference on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

The China-ASEAN Conference on Partnership on Medicine and Health is a high-level exchange and cooperation platform for China-ASEAN medical schools, which will help improve the “regional joint prevention and control the health emergency response capacity”, “promote the construction of regional infectious disease treatment network and cooperation mechanism”, and “promote regional joint prevention and control cooperation of infectious diseases”. It will also inject new vitality into the cooperation between China and ASEAN in the field of health.

Congratulations!

Assistant Instructor Dr. Korakrit Imwattana of Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, has completed his Doctoral Progam (Ph.D.) in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Western Australia (started from February 12th, 2018 to October 19th, 2021). After his graduation, Assistant Instructor Dr. Korakrit will continue his position at the Department of Microbiology to pass on his insightful knowledge in Microbiology and Immunology to the next generations of Siriraj’s medical students.

Siriraj Generate Electricity from the Solar-Roof Panel

Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital continues to become eco-university compliant with Mahidol University’s policies by recently generating their own energy supplies from the solar power generators known as “Solar Roof” on the rooftop of Adulyadejvikrom Building, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The project “Solar-Powered Electricity Generator” has been supported by “The Foundation of Dr.Rassamee Wannasorn for Charitable Activities” and started to install the “Solar Roof” during March – September 2021, costing 5,000,000 baht! This system can generate electricity for approximately 81 kWp, and the maintenance task will be responsible by the Maintenance Unit, Division of Facilities and Environmental Management, Siriraj Hospital.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at ISUOG’s 31st World Congress 2021

Assoc. Prof. Tuangsit Wataganara from the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research presentation on the topic “Longitudinal study of uterine artery Doppler indices throughout gestation in women with and without previous Caesarean delivery” at the “International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG)’s 31st Virtual World Congress on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2021″. This congress was held as an online platform between October 15th-17th, 2021.
