During June 17th-20th, 2023, Dr. Pimchanok Kulsirichawaroj, Clinical Educator from the Division of Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University delivered a Poster presentation on the topic “Novel Pathogenic Gene Variants in Thai Children with Inherited Peripheral Neuropathy” at “Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS) Annual Meeting 2023” in Denmark. The Study focuses on investigating gene distribution and demonstrating the genotype-phenotype correlations with a focus on pediatric-onset disease. Her contribution broadens research partnerships in the field.

The Peripheral Nerve Society is a global non-profit organization that unites scientists, physicians, and healthcare providers who are committed to studying and addressing disorders of the peripheral nervous system. Through collaborative endeavors, they actively support research, education, and the establishment of care standards in collaboration with patients and developers of treatments.

Asst.Prof. Wiwit Tanttibhedhyangkul, M.D., Ph.D., from the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a poster presentation on the topic “Intracellular Invasion of Orientia tsutsugamushi Induces Cathepsin- and NLRP3-Dependent Inflammasome Activation, IL-1β Release and Cell Death in Human Monocyte-Derived Macrophages” at the American Society for Microbiology annual meeting “ASM Microbe 2023” in Houston, USA, during June 16th – 19th, 2023.

Between June 15th – 17th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Siwanon Jirawatnotai, M.D., Ph.D., of the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver an original research presentation on the topic “Targeting G1 Cell Cycle Machinery in Biliary Tract Cancer” at the “Cell Cycle in Development and Cancer Conference” held by the Faculty of Biology, Institute of Developmental Biology and Biomedical, University of Warsaw, Poland. This “outstanding” original research by Assoc. Prof. Jirawatnotai will be recognized by leading researchers in the field of “cell cycle and cancer” worldwide including the leading scientists, editors, and reviewers in many leading medical journals around the globe!

The Cell Cycle in Development and Cancer Conference gathers outstanding specialists from around the world who studied the development of mammals and the mechanisms of carcinogenesis. Assoc. Prof. Tuangsit Wataganara, Chief of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Minimizing Procedure-related Complications” at the “TWINS Congress 2023: The Joint 6th World Congress on Twin Pregnancy: a Global Perspective & The 18th Congress of the International Society for Twin Studies (ISTS)” during June 15th – 17th, 2023, in Budapest, Hungary.

The TWINS Congress 2023 aims to revive the interest in maternal and neonatal care; to foster education, research, and advocacy in maternal, periconceptional, and neonatal medicine and care worldwide; to promote and disseminate the study, research and knowledge on the aspects of maternal, periconceptional and neonatal medicine, to attain a higher level of physical and mental health for women, mothers, and their children; and collaboration between various disciplines interested in maternal, perception, and perinatal care as well as friendship between individuals from different world countries that will lead to improving the quality and provision of care in the world!

Congratulations to the team from Siriraj Skin Laser Center after their clinical report on the topic “Nonablative monopolar radiofrequency for the reduction of facial pores and sebum excretion in Thai patients: A novel approach” was selected as “June 2023 Editor’s Choice” by the world-renowned medical journal “Lasers in Surgery and Medicine”! A team of correspondences from Siriraj Skin Laser Center, Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, consisted of Lect. Dr.Thanya Techapichetvanich, Prof. Woraphong Manuskiatti, Dr.Supisara Wongdama, Dr.Noldtawat Viriyaskultorn, Dr.Jayne Bernadeth Li, and Dr.Nuttagarn Jantanapornchai.

The journal “Lasers in Surgery and Medicine” publishes the highest quality research and clinical manuscripts in areas relating to the use of lasers in medicine and biology. The journal publishes basic and clinical studies on the therapeutic and diagnostic use of lasers in all surgical and medical specialties. This is the official journal of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.

On June 12th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Onuma Chaiwat, the Vice-Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a clinical presentation on the topic “Delirium Predictive Model in Patients Admitted to Surgical Intensive Care Units” at the Main Conference of the “13th Annual American Delirium Society Conference: Engage, Enhance, Evolve: Reclaiming Life From Delirium” in Rhode Island, USA.

The ADS conference focuses on learning and networking with a diverse group of attendees across many disciplines and countries – each and every one striving to learn together as we improve delirium care across healthcare settings. Assoc. Prof. Chairat Permpikul, the Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to present a special lecture on the topic “Fluid and Vasopressor Resuscitation in Early Sepsis: When, Which, and How Much?” at the “American Thoracic Society Conference 2023” between May 19th – 24th, 2023, in Washington, DC, USA. The American Thoracic Society (ATS) Conference 2023 offered the latest information on clinical, basic, and translational science in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

The American Thoracic Society improves global health by advancing research, patient care, and public health in pulmonary disease, critical illness, and sleep disorders. Founded in 1905 to combat TB, the ATS has grown to tackle asthma, COPD, lung cancer, sepsis, acute respiratory distress, and sleep apnea, among other diseases.

Asst. Prof. Vannipa Vathanophas from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Prevention of ENT Comorbidities in Children with Allergic Rhinitis” at “The 16th Congress of the European Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO 2023): Science, Clinicians and Families – Better Together” between May 20th – 23rd, 2023 in Liverpool, UK.

The ESPO 2023 features academic program presentations on cutting-edge research and complex cases and opportunities to interact and learn from renowned authorities in all fields of pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.

Asst. Prof. Yuwarat Monteerarat from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered an oral research presentation on the topic “Comparing Posterior interosseous nerve strain in lateral surgical approach to radial head: A cadaveric study” at the “The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting” between May 10th – 13th, 2023, in Rimini, Italy.

The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting is a scientific program themed “From Basic to Controversy” by the Scientific Committee of the FESSH Congress. This Joint Congress will see surgeons and therapists join their efforts and experiences from all over the world and discuss some hot topics such as fractures and malunions of the distal radius, longitudinal instability of the forearm, flexor and extensor tendons pathologies, microsurgery, congenital and pediatric hand pathologies, failures, incorrect management of hand injuries, and a very stimulating discussion and comparison of experience between experts on wrist surgery and radiologists.

Asst. Prof. Panai Laohaprasitiporn from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered an academic research presentation on the topic “Effect of Shorter Nerve Graft and Selective Motor Branch of Recipient Nerve on Nerve Transfer Surgery for Elbow Flexion in Patients with Brachial Plexus Injury” at the “The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting” between May 10th – 13th, 2023, in Rimini, Italy.
