During October 1st -4th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Sahatsa Mandee, M.D., of the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the ‘International Symposium on Pediatric Pain 2023’ in Halifax, Canada, and delivered a poster presentation on the topic “Prevalence of Moderate to Severe, Risk Factor and Treatment of Procedural Pain in Pediatric Patients at a Tertiary Care University Hospital.”

The International Symposium on Pediatric Pain is the premier, interdisciplinary conference on pain in infants, children, and adolescents. It attracts a global audience of pediatricians, anesthetists, clinicians, researchers, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, as well as professionals and scholars from other disciplines. ISPP 2023 provided attendees with the latest research in the management of acute, procedural, and chronic pain. The ISPP 2023 is the most well-attended symposium in the IASP Pain in Childhood Special Interest Group’s history, with 526 registrants from 47 countries for this International Symposium on Pediatric Pain.

During September 17th – 21st, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Nuttawut Sermsathanasawadi, M.D., Ph.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic of “Complications of Cyanoacrylate Closure -hypersensitivity Reaction, Cyanoacrylate Granuloma, “Thrombus Extension After CAC” and also delivered an oral presentation on the research topic “Outcomes of Treatment of Concomita”t Ilioca” al Venous Obstruction and Superficial Venous Reflux in Venous Leg Ulcer”Patients” at the UIP 2023 World Congress – Connecting the Continent, Welcoming the World in Miami, USA.

On September 17th – 20th, 2023, Asst. Prof. Peenida Skulratanasak, M.D., from the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended ‘The European Society for Organ Transplantation Congress (ESOT 2023)’ in Athens, Greece, and presented a research poster presentation (focus group oral presentation) on the topic “Donor Characteristics Associated with Early Thrombotic Microangiopathy After Kidney Transplantation and Outcomes: A Single-Center Experience.” Asst. Prof. Skulratanasak aimed to gain advanced insights into kidney transplantation from the conference and to integrate this knowledge into her practices at the Division of Nephrology.

The ESOT Congress is the most influential and major event of its kind, with participants attending from all over the globe to discuss, debate, and explore the latest trends in the world of transplantation. From September 14th – 16th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Thammawat Parakonthun, M.D., a Lecturer from the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and presented an oral presentation (original paper) on the topic “Free Peritoneal Cancer Cells in Adenocarcinoma of Stomach and Esophagogastric Junction: Risk Factors and Outcomes” at the ’10th Annual Congress of the Korea International Gastric Cancer Week (KINGCA WEEK 2023)’ hosted by the Korean Gastric Cancer Association (KGCA) in Seoul, Korea. The KGCA is one of the world’s leading associations in the field of gastric cancer, which continuously has published SCIE-indexed journal, the Journal of Gastric Cancer.

Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, M.D., Chairman of the Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, took part in ‘The IASP Neuropathic Pain Special Interest Group (NeuPSIG)’ in Lisbon, Portugal, presenting a poster on “Efficacy of Spinal Cord Stimulation.” This event further solidified Siriraj Hospital’s global recognition.

On September 6th – 9th 2023, Asst. Prof. Pitipol Choopong, MD., from the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “17th International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS) Congress” in Berlin, Germany, as a moderator/speaker for the session “Artificial intelligence in Uveitis, Case Presentations – Uveitis Society of Thailand (UST)” and delivered a special lecture/presentation on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology in Thailand.” This meeting is a unique gathering of 34 international societies, 14 Sections, free papers, and Special Interest Symposia, robust scientific sessions that cover a broad spectrum of intraocular and extraocular inflammatory and infectious disorders. Particular focus also on recent advances in ocular imaging, current knowledge of the underlying inflammatory pathogenesis of disorders, i.e., age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, comprehension of inflammation-related eye diseases, and recent scientific progress on novel therapeutic approaches, including surgical interventions in uveitis complications, i.e., medical and surgical management of inflammatory ocular surface diseases, keratopathies, glaucoma, and retinopathies.

The 17th IOIS Congress provided a unique opportunity for educational and scientific exchanges for academic and clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, and health industry representatives. Assoc. Prof. Sqn. Ldr. Khamin Chinsakchai, M.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Endovascular Strategies and 10-Year Outcomes for Treatment of Asymptomatic Abdominal Aortoiliac Aneurysm” at the international conference ‘The 2023 World Heart and Cardiothoracic Surgery Conference (2023WHCS)’ held during September 8th – 9th, 2023, in Singapore. Assoc. Prof. Chinsakchai has presented his work in treating patients, shared experiences, and exchanged knowledge in various aspects of vascular surgery.

The 2023 World Heart and Cardiothoracic Surgery Conference (2023WHCS) is one of the world’s most professional and clinically advanced conferences. Faculty Abroad at 6th World Congress on Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine

During September 5th-9th, 2023, Prof. Suwimon Tangwiwat from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, showcased her exceptional abilities as an instructor during the “6th World Congress on Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine” in France. During the cadaver workshop, Prof. Suwimon played a crucial role as an instructor, sharing her extensive knowledge of abdominal wall block techniques. In addition, she also volunteered as an instructor in the QL block workshop, showcasing her expertise in the field.

Furthermore, Prof. Suwimon’s contributions extended to the “Simulation Workshop: epidural anesthesia” and “Simulation Workshop: continuous perineural catheter,” where she demonstrated her proficiency and dedication to advancing the anesthesiology field.

This event was a Joint Meeting that was organized by four different societies: the American Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA Pain Medicine), the Latin American Society of Regional Anaesthesia (LASRA), the Asian & Oceanic Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (AOSRA – PM), and the African Society of Regional Anaesthesia (AFSRA). It was held simultaneously with the 40th ESRA Annual Congress.

Asst. Prof. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk, MD, FRCST, a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Consultant and Craniofacial Surgeon from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Early Bone Reformation after Cranial Vault Remodelling for Sagittal Craniosynostosis: 3D Measurement and Reformation Pattern” at the “20th Congress of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS 2023)” between September 5th – 8th, 2023, in Seattle, USA. Asst. Prof. Chaisrisawadisuk aims to utilise 3D analysis technology which is crucial in enhancing treatment outcomes for sagittal craniosynostosis, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of bone reformation patterns in significant cranial defects following synostosis surgery.

The International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS) was founded in 1983. The organization represents multispeciality surgeons and others with an interest in and focus on craniofacial surgery.

Between September 2nd – 3rd, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Preeyacha Pacharn from the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended as an invited speaker to deliver a lecture on the topic “Imaging of Pediatrics Common Abdominal Tumors” at the “21st Annual Scientific Meeting of Asian and Oceanic Society for Paediatric Radiology (AOSPR 2023)” in Hong Kong, China.

 

The “AOSPR 2023 Hong Kong” shared an insight into the latest development and cutting-edge technologies in paediatric imaging. This scientific program embraced diverse topics ranging from neuroimaging to musculoskeletal radiology, from interventional radiology to quality and safety. There are four multi-disciplinary sessions on oncological imaging, imaging in renal disease, neuroradiology, and state-of-the-art imaging by invited outstanding speakers worldwide, including proffered papers, hands-on workshops, film quizzes, and awards. This occasion brought together radiologists, radiographers, health care professionals, and researchers to exchange ideas and professional knowledge and showcase research findings in paediatric imaging!
