Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and The European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA), co-hosted the international workshop “The 3rd International ESRA Cadaver Workshop for Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia” at Siriraj Training and Education Center for Clinical Skills (SiTEC) during October 3rd- 4th, 2019, to provide useful knowledge of anatomy which is an essential condition to perform a regional anesthesia.
This ultrasound-guided nerve blocks can only be learnt by actual practical exposure to the techniques. With the limited group size and a large faculty, all participants will have sufficient hands-on time. The enthusiastic faculties of the workshop are all very-experienced block practitioners, most of them first learnt to perform regional blocks before the widespread availability of ultrasound. Their wealth of experience can share many practical tips that will help the participants in becoming competent in the application of these exciting & useful techniques. This workshop also de-mystify what is often seen as a dark art and making an ultrasound using to be a non-threatening adjunct to everyday anesthetic practice.

The postgraduate students in Hospital Management from Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, attended the Benchmark Field Visit to study on the topics “The Management of Academic Health System (AHS) in Universal Coverage System Era and Its Implementations” at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University between October 2nd – 3rd, 2019. The delegations from Indonesia visit the various site of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital such as Siriraj Hospital’s Out-Patient Department, Siriraj Medical Simulation for Education and Training (SiMSET), Siriraj Training and Education Center for Clinical Skills (SiTEC), Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital, Siriraj Bhimukstan Museum, and Siriraj Medical Museum.
The objectives of this field visits are to elaborate on the implementation of Academic Health System (AHS) in Thailand’s healthcare system, especially in the Universal Coverage System (UCS) era, to explore the role of Siriraj Hospital within the AHS and UCS, and to learn about the management and excellent services provided by Siriraj Hospital as a teaching hospital.

The MOU focused on the breast fellowship training and education exchange program.
On October 1st, 2019, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with Siriraj executive members welcomed Prof. Tunku Kamarulzaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director, and the distinguished delegates from University of Malaya Medical Center, Malaysia to attend the MOU signatory ceremony between Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University and University of Malaya Medical Center. The MOU allowed both parties to collaborate more efficiently via the exchange program, especially the breast fellowship training program. On this occasion, the Director and team were also escorted to meet with Asst. Prof. Witsanu Kumthornthip, Chairman of Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suebwong Chuthapisith, Head Division of Head-Neck and Breast Surgery, and to visit Outpatient Pharmacy to learn about the Automatic Tablet Dispensing & Packaging System (ATDPS) arranged by Assoc. Prof. Cherdchai Nopmaneejumruslers, Vice Director of Siriraj Hospital.





Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital welcomed Dr. Melker Löwenhoff from Vrinnevi hospital, Norrköping, Sweden to Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.
On September 30th, 2019, Dr. Löwenhoff delivered a lecture on “How to Initiate Standard Geriatric ward/Mobile team with Multidisciplinary Cooperation” and “How to Deal with BPSD In People with Dementia” at the joint conference between Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Vrinnevi hospital, Norrköping, Sweden, “Multidisciplinary Care in Dementia: Sweden and Thailand Exchanging Experience” at 12th floor, Siriraj Medical Research Center.

Prof. Prasert Assantachai, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with Asst.Prof. Witsanu Kumthornthip, Chairman of Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, presided over the international conference “Multimodal Treatments of Spastic Hypertonia: Chemoneurolysis and Other Advanced Interventions” between September 27th – 28th, 2019, at Sirindhorn Room, the ground floor of Chalermprakist Building, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.


The September 24th of every year was designated as Prince Mahidol Day in commemoration of his contributions to the development of medical education in Thailand and his selfless devotion to the well-being of Thai people.

On September 13th, 2019, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital along with Assoc. Prof. Pravit Akarasereenont, Chairman of Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine welcomed the distinguished from World Health Organization Collaborating Centers for Traditional Medicine in South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) to the 1st Joint Symposium under the theme Traditional Medicines for NCDs, hosted by Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine.

During September 11th – 12th, 2019, Dr. Han Guangshu, President of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, and Ms. Li Yingyue from Nanjing Drum Tower’s International Affairs Department, attended “The International Symposium on Traditional Medicine (ISTM2019)” at Siriraj Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and also visited other sites of Siriraj such as International Relations Division, Siriraj Medical Library, Siriraj Training and Education Center for Clinical Skills (SiTEC), Siriraj Medical Simulation for Education and Training (SiMSET), Siriraj Medical Research Building (SiMR), and Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital.
