Assistant Professor Nutthawut Akaranuchat, MD, PhD, FRCST, from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the prestigious “PRS KOREA 2024: The 82nd Congress of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons”. The conference, held from November 17th – 19th, 2024, in Seoul, Korea, is recognized as Asia’s largest international gathering for plastic surgery professionals.

Asst. Prof. Akaranuchat delivered an insightful oral presentation titled “Thinning of the Medial Sural Artery Perforator Flap: The Anatomical Examination of the Medial Sural Artery Perforator Branch”. The Division of Rhinology and Allergy, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, is organizing a hands-on training workshop “The 27th Siriraj International Rhinology and Allergy Course” from November 18th – 19th, 2024, at the Siriraj Medical Simulation Center (SiTEC), Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The workshop will feature esteemed international faculty members, including Prof. Alkis Psaltis, Prof. Luo Zhang, and Prof. Chengshuo Wang.

On November 18th, 2024, Professor Apichat Asavamongkolkul, MD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Professor Zhang Luo, MD, PhD, President of the Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, Beijing, People’s Republic of China, presided over the signing ceremony of a “Memorandum of Understanding on Academic and Educational Exchange”. This MOU aims to promote cooperation in education, research, and academic services, including academic and educational exchanges, for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University is a leading comprehensive top-tier hospital with ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology as its national key disciplines. The hospital operates under a “one hospital, three institutes” framework, incorporating the Beijing Institute of Ophthalmology, the Beijing Institute of Otolaryngology, and the Beijing Institute of Diabetes. This model integrates medical services, education, research, prevention, and international exchange. Ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology are designated as national clinical key disciplines, while its allergy department (nasal allergies) is a national clinical key specialty.

This MOU represents a significant milestone in strengthening academic collaboration and advancing innovation between the two esteemed institutions.

Associate Professor Pramote Euasobhon, MD, from the Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a distinguished guest speaker at the “KPS, ISPS, WSPC 2024 Co-hosting Meeting” in Seoul, Republic of Korea, between November 14th – 17th, 2024. He delivered two insightful lectures: “tDCS/rTMS/rPMS for the Treatment of Neuropathic Pain” and “Cryoablation for Chronic Pain”.

This participation not only reinforces Siriraj Hospital’s international academic presence but also brings direct benefits, including:

The “KPS, ISPS, WSPC 2024 Co-hosting Meeting” jointly organized by the Korean Pain Society (KPS), the International Spinal Pain Society (ISPS), and the World Society of Pain Clinicians (WSPC), serves as the world’s premier academic event in pain medicine. The conference featured renowned experts presenting the latest advancements in pain medicine, encompassing basic and clinical research, novel medications, and cutting-edge techniques. Highlights also included cadaver and ultrasound workshops.

With over 1,200 participants from 25+ countries, the meeting underscored its global significance in driving innovation and collaboration in the field of pain management.

Assistant Professor Bhoom Suktitipat, MD, PhD, from the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, represented Siriraj at “The 36th Annual Meeting of the Thai Society for Biotechnology and International Conference (TSB2024)”. The event, themed “Nature’s Blueprint: A Journey toward Sustainable Development through the BCG Economy Model”, took place from November 14th –16th, 2024, in Ayutthaya, Thailand.

Asst. Prof. Suktitipat showcased a research poster titled “Validation of Polygenic Risk Score for Coronary Artery Disease in the Thai Population”, contributing valuable insights to the intersection of biotechnology and healthcare.

Assoc. Prof. Irene Ruengkhachorn, MD, a lecturer of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, attended the 36th International Papillomavirus Conference & Basic, Clinical and Public Health Scientific Workshops (IPVC 2024) in Edinburgh, UK, from November 12th-15th, 2024. She presented a research poster titled “Significance of Extended High-Risk Human Papillomavirus (HRHPV) Genotyping for Cervical Cancer Screening.”

During the conference, Assoc. Prof. Ruengkhachorn showcased her research findings and their application in patient care, while also initiating a new research project. Her participation fostered valuable discussions among international medical professionals, paving the way for potential future collaborations.

The International Papillomavirus Society is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to biomedical research on human and animal papillomaviruses and associated diseases, provided a global platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and research materials among basic, clinical, and public health researchers. IPVS aims to advance the understanding and elimination of papillomavirus-related diseases worldwide.

On November 15th, 2024, our team from the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, visited the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh to foster collaboration in medical education, technology, and research.

The visiting team included Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumethee, Deputy Dean for Research; Assoc. Prof. Prapat Suriyapol, Deputy Dean for Information & Technology; Assoc.
