During September 5th-9th, 2023, Prof. Suwimon Tangwiwat from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, showcased her exceptional abilities as an instructor during the “6th World Congress on Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine” in France. During the cadaver workshop, Prof. Suwimon played a crucial role as an instructor, sharing her extensive knowledge of abdominal wall block techniques. In addition, she also volunteered as an instructor in the QL block workshop, showcasing her expertise in the field.

Furthermore, Prof. Suwimon’s contributions extended to the “Simulation Workshop: epidural anesthesia” and “Simulation Workshop: continuous perineural catheter,” where she demonstrated her proficiency and dedication to advancing the anesthesiology field.

This event was a Joint Meeting that was organized by four different societies: the American Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA Pain Medicine), the Latin American Society of Regional Anaesthesia (LASRA), the Asian & Oceanic Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine (AOSRA – PM), and the African Society of Regional Anaesthesia (AFSRA). It was held simultaneously with the 40th ESRA Annual Congress.

Asst. Prof. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk, MD, FRCST, a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Consultant and Craniofacial Surgeon from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Early Bone Reformation after Cranial Vault Remodelling for Sagittal Craniosynostosis: 3D Measurement and Reformation Pattern” at the “20th Congress of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS 2023)” between September 5th – 8th, 2023, in Seattle, USA. Asst. Prof. Chaisrisawadisuk aims to utilise 3D analysis technology which is crucial in enhancing treatment outcomes for sagittal craniosynostosis, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of bone reformation patterns in significant cranial defects following synostosis surgery.

The International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS) was founded in 1983. The organization represents multispeciality surgeons and others with an interest in and focus on craniofacial surgery.

The ASSB 2023 & ICSS 2023 conferences feature international experts to provide professional research experiences, innovative visions, and best practices in Biomechanics and Sport Sciences. The ASSB 2023 & ICSS 2023 brought scientists, professionals, and students from sports biomechanics societies in Asia. Welcome, Dr.Bigesh Man Shakya, an otologist from Dhulikhel Hospital, Nepal, to undertake the short training program, the “Clinical Observership Program in Otology” at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from September 4th – 29th, 2023, under the supervision of Assistant Professor ML. Kanthong Thongyai. Dr.Shakya aims to gain more profound knowledge in otology diagnosis and management, gain more experience in cholesteatoma, stapes, and cochlear implant surgeries, and increase clinical competence in diagnosing and managing complex hearing and balance disorders after he finishes his training.

Between September 2nd – 3rd, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Preeyacha Pacharn from the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended as an invited speaker to deliver a lecture on the topic “Imaging of Pediatrics Common Abdominal Tumors” at the “21st Annual Scientific Meeting of Asian and Oceanic Society for Paediatric Radiology (AOSPR 2023)” in Hong Kong, China.

 

The “AOSPR 2023 Hong Kong” shared an insight into the latest development and cutting-edge technologies in paediatric imaging. This scientific program embraced diverse topics ranging from neuroimaging to musculoskeletal radiology, from interventional radiology to quality and safety. There are four multi-disciplinary sessions on oncological imaging, imaging in renal disease, neuroradiology, and state-of-the-art imaging by invited outstanding speakers worldwide, including proffered papers, hands-on workshops, film quizzes, and awards. This occasion brought together radiologists, radiographers, health care professionals, and researchers to exchange ideas and professional knowledge and showcase research findings in paediatric imaging!

 

On August 31st, 2023, the committee of Siriraj Medical Students Exchange Program 2023 (academic year 2023), including Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Asst. Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; and Assoc. Prof. Vorapan Sirivatanauksorn, Chair of the Department of Biochemistry, convened for the final round of English interviews. They aimed to identify the most qualified 2nd-year Siriraj medical student for the 2024 research elective program.

As we conclude the last day of English interviews for the Student Exchange Program 2024, the committee faces an arduous task. Each candidate has demonstrated exceptional abilities, making the selection of the most qualified student a challenging endeavor. The announcement of the results is forthcoming.
