Asst. Prof. Thanyaporn Rakbangboon, B.Sc., M.Sc., Deputy Director of Academic Affairs and International Relations, and Lecturer Sirirat Seng-iad, M.A., B.Sc., from Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (SSPO), were invited as a guest speakers at a practical conference “SCOPe Program – Spinal Orthotics Practical Training Session” organized by Human Study e.V., Germany, at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China. The conference was held from June 24th – 29th, 2024. Thirteen prosthetists and orthotists from hospitals in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region attended this practical training session. Prior to this practical session, theoretical training was conducted online from May 8th – June 12th, 2024.

During the practical training, participants learned about the “Chêneau orthosis” for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and practiced patient assessment, measurement and casting, positive model modification, orthosis fabrication, and fitting.

From June 19th – 23rd, 2024, Lecturer Jirayu Chantanakomes, M.D., a clinical staff member of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “The 23rd International Conference on Emergency Medicine (ICEM 2024)” in Taipei, Taiwan, for the abstract & poster presentation on two topics: “Impact of High-Performance Emergency Medical Services Usage on Outcomes of Sports and Recreational Related Traumatic Brain Injury (Abstract)” and “Thailand’s trauma registry system (Poster)”.

“The 23rd International Conference on Emergency Medicine: Glocalization of Emergency Medicine: Global Wisdom and Local Solution” aims to narrow down the emergency medicine development gaps worldwide and to expand opportunities for research sharing and networking with the global emergency medicine community.

Ms. Narumol Jariyasopit, Ph.D., a researcher from the Siriraj Metabolomics and Phenomics Center, Research Department, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the 20th Annual International Conference of the Metabolomics Society, ‘Metabolomics 2024’, held in Osaka, Japan, from June 16th – 20th, 2024, and presented a research poster titled ‘Alterations of Metabolomic Profiles in Metabolic Syndrome Patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment’. Dr. Jariyasopit aimed to explore advancements in metabolomics research and potential applications at Siriraj Hospital.

Metabolomics 2024 covered the major scientific themes of Technology Advances, Computational Metabolomics, Statistics, and Bioinformatics, Metabolomics in Health and Disease, and Metabolomics of Food, Plants, Environment, and Microbes. The scientific program will include plenary and keynote talks, three parallel scientific sessions, interactive poster sessions, sponsor lunches, other networking events, and a dedicated parallel session to promote metabolomics research in the industry.

Doctor Kamonlawat Sutthipool, M.D., a Clinical Educator from the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the annual meeting “The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Microbes 2024” in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, between July 15th – 19th, 2024, and presented a poster on the topic “Hospitalized Patients with Community-acquired Pneumonia During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Focus on Non-COVID-19 Pneumonia”. Attending international conferences like The ASM Microbes 2024′ allows Doctor Sutthipool to forge connections with professionals and potential collaborators worldwide.

From June 13th – 15th, 2024, Prof. Aasis Unnanuntana, M.D., M.Sc., of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “2nd Fragility Fracture Network Asia Pacific Regional Congress 2024″ in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a guest speaker on the topic “APOA/APOFFS Symposium: Atypical Femoral Fracture Management” and served as a judge for the “Free Paper Oral Presentation Judging Session.” Prof. Unnanuntana’s involvement will benefit Siriraj Hospital by fostering a network for future collaboration and enhancing the hospital’s international visibility.

The 2nd Fragility Fracture Network Asia Pacific Regional Meeting, themed “Holistic Fragility Fracture Care, Driving Systemic Change,” is designed to showcase the latest research findings, best practices, and innovations in fragility fracture care.

From June 10th – 13th, 2024, Ms. Pariyada Tanjak, Ph.D., a researcher from the Siriraj Cancer Center, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “European Association for Cancer Research (EACR 2024)” in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and presented a poster on the topic “Tumor-immune Hybrid Cells Evade Immune Response and Potentiate Liver Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer via CTLA4.” Her participation promises to benefit Siriraj by introducing innovative technologies, advancing translational cancer research, and fostering international collaborations.

The 2024 Annual Congress of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR 2024) is a four-day congress dedicated to basic, preclinical, and translational cancer research across a wide breadth of topics. It highlighted the latest research and brought together the cancer research community to inspire innovation and build knowledge, connections, and collaborations.

From June 8th – 11th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Benjapa Khiewvan, M.D., CCD., FANMB., Chief of the Division of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “2024 Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Annual Meeting” in Toronto, Canada, and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Lu-177 PSMA I&T treatment in metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer: first experienced in Thailand” which also being awarded “International Best Abstract Award.”

The SNMMI Annual Meeting is a premier educational, scientific, research, and networking event in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging that provides an in-depth view of the latest research and development in the field as well as insights into practical applications for the clinic physicians, technologists, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, and scientists.

From June 1st – 6th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Ratcharin Kongkasuwan, M.D., from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in “The 18th World Congress of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM)” in Sydney, Australia, to present a poster presentation on the topic, “The effectiveness of inspiratory muscle training using the inspiratory muscle trainer on respiratory muscle strength in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a randomized controlled trial”.

Asst. Prof. Kongkasuwan’s participation will benefit Siriraj as follows:
– Enhance techniques and services for ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin and phenol injections for spasticity management
– Improve pediatric pain management
– Provide teaching and knowledge-sharing opportunities for residents, young staff, and Thai physiatrists
– Foster connections with international experts for future research and academic collaborations

The ISPRM World Congress is a premier forum for presenting international research, discovery, and innovation in Rehabilitation Medicine. The 2024 conference focuses on the three “T’s”: Trauma (including motor vehicle accidents, domestic violence, and the aftermath of war and natural disasters), Technology (from personal devices to robotics), and Timing (exploring prehabilitation, in-reach services, and the optimal duration of rehabilitation).

From June 1st – 4th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Tada Kunavisarut, M.D., instructor of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended an international conference, “The Endocrine Society’s Annual Meeting (ENDO 2024)” in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and presented a poster presentation on the topic “Central Hypothyroid in Cushing Syndrome.”

The Endocrine Society’s annual meeting offers a unique opportunity for physicians and scientists to learn about the latest research in fields as diverse as obesity, diabetes, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, growth hormones, thyroid conditions, reproductive health, endocrine cancers, and much more. From May 31st – June 3rd, 2024, Lecturer Kantima Kanchanapoomi, M.D., of the Division of Allergy and Immunology, Department of Pediatric, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and presented a Poster Presentation on the topic “Nasal Dysbiosis in Childhood with Allergic and Nonallergic Rhinitis” at the “European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Annual Meeting 2024” in Valencia, the Kingdom of Spain. Lecturer Kanchanapoomi aimed to update her knowledge about allergies and share her clinical experience with other allergists worldwide.

The EAACI Congress 2024, under the banner of “Revolutionising Patient Care Through the Power of Data Science,” emphasizes the significance of Allergy and Clinical Immunology through Personalized Care, Data Science, and the One Health approach.
