Prof. Pochamana Phisalprapa, M.D., Ph.D., Head of Division of Ambulatory Medicine, Department of Medicine, Faulty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the international conference ‘ISPOR Europe 2023 (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research)’ in Copenhagen, Denmark, to present a poster on the topic “Feasibility of Cervical Cancer Screening Policy Using Self-Collected Samples for HPV DNA Testing in Thailand.” Assoc. From November 9th – 11th, 2023, Lecturer Chutima Leewatchararoonjaroen, M.D., a Clinical Educator from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended ‘The 100th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Korean Society of Anesthesiologists: KoreAnesthesia 2023′ in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and presented a research abstract poster on the topic “Analgesic Efficacy of Ultrasound-Guided Fascia Iliaca Compartment Block (FICB) and Outcomes in Preoperative Fast-Track Geriatric Hip Fracture Patients: A Single-Center Retrospective Study.” Lecturer Leewatchararoonjaroen’s presentation aimed to showcase Siriraj Hospital’s APS Hip Fast Track Protocol and provide evidence of its beneficial effects.

On November 10th, 2023, Assoc.Prof.Summon Chomchai, M.D., an Instructor from the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the 21st Annual Scientific Congress “Asia Pacific Association Of Medical Toxicology Conference 2023 in Kerala, India. Assoc. Prof. Chomchai has participated in the workshop among international experts in clinical toxicology and physicians in India and wrote a guideline on the topic “Critical Care for Clinical Toxicology in Resource-Poor Regions” for the care of patients with poisoning from recreational drugs, especially in resource-poor facilities.

The APAMT – 2023 Conference is committed to educating the general public and government agencies about poison information and control, chemical control, and safety. The theme of the meeting is “Critical Care for Clinical Toxicology in Resource Poor Regions.” Many international and national experts will discuss various aspects of pesticide exposure, prevention, detection, and treatment. The meeting will also focus on locally prevalent snake envenomation and plant toxins.

During November 5th – 7th, 2023, Lecturer Khemanat Khemworapong, M.D., from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the ‘Annual Global Meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS 2023)’ in Seoul, Korea, to present a research poster on a topic “Correlation Between Preoperative PCI Imaging, Intraoperative PCI Measurement, and Overall Survival in Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Secondary to Ovarian, Tubal, and Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma.”

Following the conference, Dr. Poonyakanok is dedicated to updating his knowledge on new treatment modalities for GYN-ONCO patients and strengthening connections between international professors/institutions and Siriraj.

From November 1st – 4th, 2023, Doctor Katesirin Ruamyod, M.D., a researcher from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the ’10th Federation of the Asian and Oceanian Physiological Societies Congress (FAOPS 2023)’ in Daegu, Republic of Korea. In this congress, Dr. Ruamyod was honored with a ‘Young Investigator Travel Grant’ and also presented a research poster on the topic “Long-term Testosterone Effects on Small-Conductance Ca2+-Activated K+ Currents and Expression in Human Coronary Artery Endothelial Cells.” This participation not only showcased Siriraj’s potential for advanced research in Thailand but also provided a valuable networking platform for Siriraj, too.

During November 1st – 4th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Suwattanee Kooptiwut, M.D., Ph.D., an instructor of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and presented a poster at ‘The 10th Federation of the Asian and Oceanian Physiological Societies Congress (FAOPS 2023)’ in Daegu, Korea. Assoc. Prof. Kooptiwut‘s participation at the event is expected to yield significant benefits for the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, leading to the exploration of new research topics in physiology and the acquisition of fresh knowledge for Siriraj’s graduate students.

The FAOPS 2023 is a congress where the experts gather and share the latest knowledge and information in the diverse areas of the physiological sciences. FAOPS was established in 1990 and consists of 15 full members and 3 associate members, and holds the Congress every four years. This federation has contributed to the professional exchange and the development of physiological scientific research in the Asia and Oceania area. The FAOPS 2023 congress provided valuable networking opportunities and inspiring presentations for the delegates. This event will set the stage for further cooperation among professionals from all over the world.
