Researcher Kamonlatth Rodponthukwaji, Ph.D., of the Department of Research, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research presentation on the topic “Modulating Macrophage Polarization with Magnetic Nanoparticles containing Toll-Like Receptor Agonist: An alternative approach to enhance anticancer treatment” at the “5th International Conference On Nanomedicine And Nanobiotechnology – ICONAN 2024″ between January 15th – 17th, 2024, in Barcelona, Spain.

As a young and dynamic researcher, Dr. Rodponthukwaji seized the opportunity to connect with renowned professors and experts from prestigious universities worldwide, who are at the forefront of nanotechnology and nanomedicine research. This invaluable interaction not only expanded Dr. Rodponthukwaji’s knowledge base but also paved the way for future collaborations and partnerships between the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and leading institutions in these cutting-edge fields. Prof. Prasert Assantachai, M.D., M.R.C.P., F.R.C.P., from the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the ‘Annual Meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) Clinical Consortium on Healthy Ageing’ at WHO Headquarters in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation, from December 5th – 7th, 2023. Prof. Assantachai served as the Chairperson of the ‘Breakout Session for Care Pathway of Social Care and Support.’

The WHO Clinical Consortium on Healthy Ageing is a group of global experts that advances research and clinical practice related to Healthy Ageing. The Consortium does this by sharing data, undertaking new analysis on intrinsic capacity and its implications for clinical practice, evaluating clinical interventions to foster Healthy Ageing, and building the capacity of healthcare professionals on Healthy Ageing.

From December 1st – 3rd, 2023, Lecturer Vitcha Poonyakanok, M.D., from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, actively participated in ‘The 8th Biennial Meeting of Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ASGO 2023)’ in Taipei, Taiwan, to present his research study during the ‘Young Doctor Oral Graphic Presentation’ session. The topic of his presentation was  “Health-Related Quality of Life Using EQ-5D in Endometrial Cancer Patients in Each State.”

From November 27th-30th, 2023, Asst. Prof.Sukit Ruksasuk, M.D., from the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended Europe’s Peritoneal Dialysis Conference (EuroPD 2023) in Bruges, Belgium, to present his oral presentation on the topic “Randomized Evaluation of Efficacy and Safety of Intraperitoneal Low Molecular Weight Heparin Versus Unfractionated Heparin in Infected Peritoneal Dialysis.”

From November 23rd – 25th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Anirut Pattaragarn, M.D., Head of the Division of Nephrology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in ‘The 15th Asian Congress of Pediatric Nephrology 2023 (ACPN2023)’ held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The purpose of his attendance was to present a research study focusing on the “Risk factors associated with recurrent urinary tract infections in children with bladder dysfunction.” Assoc. Prof. Pattaragarn aims to update the most recent knowledge and share the clinical experience.

The ACPN2023 congress, which took place in Dubai, featured notable scientific programs comprising keynote lectures and workshops. Distinguished international and regional faculties were actively involved, fostering an environment conducive to knowledge sharing and informal exchanges among attendees. This premier scientific program also included joint sessions in collaboration with the European Society of Pediatric Nephrology (ESPN) and AsPNA, operating under the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA).

From November 23rd – 25th, 2023, Mrs. Junporn Kongwatcharapong, a senior clinical pharmacist from the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the ’28th International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy Annual Scientific Meeting (ISCP 2023)’ in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Pharmacist Ruamyod was honored with a ‘3rd place in the poster presentation award’ for her research poster presentation on the topic “Assessment of Direct Oral Anticoagulant Use and Clinical Outcomes among Patients with Renal Impairment at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand.”

The ISCP 2023 Seoul provided key insight, practice-changing updates, and cutting-edge educational content with outstanding world-class professionals. It brought together key stakeholders in cardiovascular pharmacotherapies, cardiovascular disease prevention, and better patient care.

From November 23rd – 25th, 2023, Lecturer Tatchaporn Ongphichetmetha, M.D., from the Division of Clinical Epidemiology, Department of Research and Development, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the ’15th Congress of the Pan-Asian Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (PACTRIMS)’ in Perth, Australia. Dr.Ongphichetmetha has presented her research poster presentation on the topic “Efficacy and Safety of Rituximab in Multiple Sclerosis and Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder.” Dr. Ongphichetmetha’s engaging discourse not only showcased her expertise but also advanced the dissemination of knowledge within the realm of multiple sclerosis and related disorders, marking a pivotal moment in the collective understanding of these conditions.

The PACTRIMS 2023 is an annual event that aims to provide clinical and scientific updates in the care of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica and related conditions in the Asia-Pacific region. Patients in this region face different challenges where clinical care could vary depending on different healthcare reimbursements, perceptions of disease, and accessibility to diagnostic assays and medications. PACTRIMS 2023 strives to provide opportunities for participants representing their MS communities to exchange knowledge, acquire skills, share experiences, foster collaborations and work towards our shared vision of improving the care and lives of patients with MS and other CNS inflammatory demyelinating diseases.

During November 16th – 19th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Nuttapol Rittayamai, M.D., from the Division of Respiratory Disease and Tuberculosis, Department of Medicine, Faulty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the international conference ‘The 27th Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR 2023)’ in Singapore to deliver an oral presentation on the topic “Ultrasound evaluation of parasternal intercostal muscle and diaphragm in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.” This study, originating from Siriraj Hospital, addresses a significant gap in knowledge by providing rare ultrasound findings on parasternal intercostal muscle in stable COPD patients. The anticipated publication of the study’s results will contribute valuable insights into respiratory muscle activity in COPD patients and is poised to enhance Siriraj Hospital’s recognition in the field.
