Siriraj Launched “PSYJAI” A.I. ChatBot For Mental Health

The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital https://www.facebook.com/TheMindBySiriraj/ and the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, launched “Psy Jai” by Siriraj, a co-developed Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) chatbot for mental health and emotional support during the COVID-19 pandemic through its Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/psyjaibot.

The application ”Psy Jai” can screen and assess your emotional status and chatting with it will help you relieve the stress and restore your mental stability. The data will be kept confidentially and can be recalled on the dashboard for follow up. The name “Psy Jai” is a homonym of “Sai Jai” which means “taking care of” or “put (someone/something) into the heart” in Thai. “Psy” also stands for psychiatry, the application’s owning department. The project “Psy Jai” chatbot was supported by the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

Minimally Invasive Surgery is now very popular in gastrointestinal tract surgery. There are many special instruments that have been developed for specific procedures such as endostaple, hemostasis device, and robotic system. On August 6th, 2021, Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Assoc. Prof. Vitoon Chinswangwattanakul, and Assoc. Prof. Asada Methasate, organized an online conference as part of the “52nd ASIA PACIFIC ADVANCED NETWORK VIRTUAL MEETING” on the topic “Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotic Surgery”. This conference will present 4 – 5 interesting cases from different MIS centers around the world using special devices, instruments, or new robotic systems.

Bolo, an anesthesiologist from Philippine Orthopedic Center, The Phillippines, to undertaking “Siriraj’s International Fellowship Training in Clinical Pain Management” at Siriraj Pain Management Clinical Training Center, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon and his team between August 1st, 2021 – July 31st, 2022. This program is jointly sponsored by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the World Federation of Societies for Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), this hands-on one-year fellowship trains an outstanding multidisciplinary clinician in pain management, treatments, and assessments for application in low-resource countries.

Foundations of Global Health 2021-2022 Call for Presenters

University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is pleased to invite you to participate in the second year of “Foundations of Global Health”.

Over the past year, while international travel, exchange, and International Educational Experiences (IEE’s) were suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, KUMC wanted to “feed the minds” of residents, students, learners, and others who have a keen interest in and affinity for global health. KUMC was fortunate to have thirteen presentations encompassing the desire to learn from each other.

This continues to be a great opportunity for any community to learn from those who are involved in global health activities here and around the world and increase our understanding of the field of global health. This may include global health research, philosophy, approaches, attitudes, and efforts in the areas of health disparities, health inequities, and community health.

  • PRESENTATION FORMAT:  KUMC would like this platform to be an opportunity for you to share about your personal journey, educational background, mentors, books, and articles that inspired you, challenges and lessons learned, successes, and epiphanies, life-changing moments, and the heart breaks.
    • These presentations can be either formal or more conversational with 20 minutes of presenting and 20 minutes of engaging with the audience.  You decide your preference.
  • GOAL of the PROGRAM: KUMC’s goal is to provide some foundational information on pathways into global health as well as informing the attitudes of the students to help them become strong partners in global health who engage others in reciprocal relationships that are mutually beneficial.
  • PROCESS: If you are willing to present, KUMC would ask you to fill out this survey at Foundations of Global Health.
    • The survey will collect various information including a few dates/times you are available to present Kansas City Central Time by Zoom.
    • KUMC typically provides presentations/programming at 12:00. However, KUMC can promote and support these presentations between 12-7:00 pm KC time.
    • KUMC hopes that students, residents, learners, and faculty from KUMC’s international partner institutions will also join for these educational presentations.  KUMC realizes that the time/day difference could be a barrier, so all presentations will be recorded and accessible for viewing.

Global Health is a varied and exciting field to which many health care providers, researchers, and faculty aspire to being professionally engaged. With our being a globally connected world and with COVID-19 uniting the world to solve an issue, global health has never been more relevant. This year-long programming is designed to feature our experts in the field of global health – KUMC’s faculty, researchers, and clinicians; our international partners, and our community partners.  Each presenter will share his/her personal journey, educational background, mentors, books, and articles that gave inspiration, challenges, lessons learned, successes, epiphanies, life-changing moments, and the heart breaks.

  • This series is created to support the development of global health professionals, giving participants inspiration as well as shaping attitudes around global health so that KUMC are trend-setters who move beyond the “us-them” “haves and have not” mentality to a platform of equality and mutualism which garners true collaboration and global health exchange for everyone’s equal benefit.
  • The goal of this series is to inform participants about the field of global health in its entirety to include global health research, philosophy, approaches, attitudes, and the varied efforts in the areas of health disparities, health inequities, and community health.

Foundations of Global Health is designed to inform and expose residents, students, learners, and faculty to leaders in global health; however, we hope that the faculty who contribute to this program, will also attend to learn from and support colleagues from around the world.

KUMC students who participate can earn points toward the Global Scholars Distinction Program http://www.kumc.edu/gsdp.html.  Anyone who attends the sessions can earn an OIP certificate of attendance.
