Ms. Patoo Withatanung, Ph.D., a Level 1 Researcher from the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “Viruses of Microbes 2024” conference in Cairns, Australia, from July 15th – 19th, 2024. She presented a poster titled “Herb Extract Curcumin Enhances Killing Efficiency of a Novel Phage Targeting Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.”

Ms. Withatanung’s participation in the conference provided her valuable insights and inspiration for future research projects. Ms. Withatanung gained new perspectives on the innovative use of bacteriophages for treating antibiotic-resistant infections, which could potentially expand the hospital’s treatment capabilities. Moreover, the event facilitated discussions on collaborative research opportunities, fostering professional connections crucial for advancing scientific endeavors and achieving broader recognition within the scientific community.

From July 10th-12th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, the Deputy Dean for Corporate Communications and International Relations, welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Surabaya, Indonesia, led by Prof. Dr. Rochmad Romdoni, along with his team and 12 medical students. The visit aimed to foster learning about Medicine in Thailand and explore potential collaborations with the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

On July 10th, 2024, the delegation visited the Siriraj Medical Museum. Here, they delved into the history of medicine in Thailand and Siriraj, gaining insights into forensic science and diseases prevalent in Thailand through the Anatomical Museum, Forensic Museum, and Parasitology Museum.

On July 11th, 2024, Dr. Phornnop Naiyanetr, Chair of the Department of Immunology, along with department administrators, welcomed the guests for an insightful visit. The medical students learned about Siriraj’s specialized expertise in Immunology. Additionally, Lect. Sukree Kade from the Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine shared his knowledge, delivering an engaging presentation on Applied Thai Traditional Medicine.

The visit concluded on July 12th, 2024, with Asst. Prof. Napakorn Sangchay welcoming Dr. Adhymas Setyo Wicaksono, an Anatomy lecturer from Ubaya, and his team to the Department of Anatomy. The session was both engaging and insightful, covering academic, educational, and service aspects of the department and discussing potential areas for future collaboration between the institutions.

On June 27th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Chainarong Phalanusitthepha welcomed distinguished guests: Mr. Patrick Wing Leung WONG, Technical Manager and Mr. Siu Pang HO, Senior Technical Officer, from School of Biomedical of Sciences, L.K.S. Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong on visit and discussion at SiMSET, SiTEC and Anatomy Department, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

On March 21st – 24th, 2024, Lecturer Woratee Dacharux, M.D., from the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was honored to be invited as a lecturer at the “Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Asian Meeting 2024” held in Okinawa, Japan, to deliver a lecture on the topic “Current Status of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Thailand”.

Lecturer Dacharux aimed to enhance educational programs and services at Siriraj Hospital by utilizing data gathered from his lecture’s survey. Additionally, he explored potential collaborations, fostering partnerships for future advancements in research, education, and clinical practice. Dr. Dacharux’s participation underscores Siriraj Hospital’s commitment to excellence and its active engagement in international academic discourse.

Assoc. Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, M.D., the Pain Medicine Division Chief, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited to attend the 18th World Congress of Anesthesiologists (WCA2024) in Singapore between March 3rd – 7th, 2024 and served as a poster presentation moderator; a session Chair: Pain Management in Special Environments; and delivered a special lecture on the topic “Cannabinoids for Acute Pain”.

The WCA2024 is the only international congress, with representation from more than 130 countries, that offers a comprehensive program that addresses anaesthesiology globally. Additionally, WCA provides training and education opportunities that drive conversations, deepen collaboration, and accelerate the promotion of science, networking, and knowledge sharing across the spectrum of anaesthesiology.

Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, actively engaged in the instruction of gross anatomy as part of the Early Clinical Exposure (ECE) Activities tailored for preclinical medical students alongside instructors from the Department of Anatomy.

Early Clinical Exposure (ECE) represents an innovative and progressive teaching-learning approach purposefully designed to foster early patient interaction for medical students, commencing as early as their inaugural year in medical school. This initiative aims to imbue future healthcare practitioners with invaluable experiences, nurturing their empathetic and clinical skills right from the onset of their medical education.

Siriraj Skin Laser Center, Department of Dermatology, and Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, co-hosted “The 5th iClass Anatomy Asia Cadaver Workshop” for participants from Vietnam, China, Korea, and Thailand during August 13th – 14th, 2019.
